    The Cryptography and Data Security major subject educates future experts of the field that have strong and broad knowledge on mathematical aspects of cryptography and data security. The students learn to assess the strengths and weaknesses of cryptographic solutions based on a deep understanding of the underlying theory. Applicants to this major subject must have their previous studies in mathematics or a mathematics related field.
    The Networked Systems Security major subject gives its students profound and substantial education and expertise in the networked systems security and technology field. The graduates of this major subject will benefit from the strong technological, theoretical and practical understanding and skills they have obtained in the programme upon building a successful career in securing the information and communication technology industry. For applicants to this major subject, relevant fields of previous studies include communication and network systems, software engineering, computer science, computer technology and information technology.
    This programme co-operates closely with the GITM Master's Degree Programme in the Turku School of Economics, resulting in an opportunity for the students of this programme to study information security courses also from the information systems and security management perspective.

    The information security research and education consortium at University of Turku offers two curriculums targeting a Master's degree:

    program_requirements

    BSc degree that formally qualifies the applicant to access Master-level studies in the country where it has been completed. This degree should correspond to at least 180 ECTS (European credits) or to three years of full-time study. It should be awarded by a full university (i.e. an institution of higher education offering a doctorate). OR A polytechnic degree from an ammattikorkeakoulu institution in Finland, which in combination with additional studies that the student will be required to complete while studying for the Master's Degree (see Additional studies below) and possible work experience can be considered to qualify the applicant for Master's Degree studies. Applicants seeking admission on the basis of a degree from ammattikorkeakoulu institution in Finland should note the language requirement concerning the Finnish language.
