    Morris combines music coursework with an exceptional liberal arts curriculum, providing a diverse knowledge base that can serve as a foundation in a variety of careers, both inside and outside of music.

    The members of the music faculty have established reputations and are ready to work with students, not only in the small classes that are a part of the core music studies, but also through mentorships and projects that the student wishes to pursue.

    Students at Morris have the option to earn a teaching license through our reputable elementary and secondary education programs; a high percentage of music majors achieve placement in elementary and secondary music education positions.

    Course Content

    The music curriculum offers a wide range of courses for the music major. It also has strong appeal to the general student, especially in the activities of the instrumental and vocal ensembles.

    Students become familiar with the traditions of Western and non-Western music through theoretical analysis, research, performance, and historical survey. The curriculum fosters the development of the critical ability necessary to understand those traditions. Students experience the unique relationship between research and performance in music. Theoretical and practical courses that provide a sound academic background in music are available for those who intend to pursue graduate study, teach, or fulfill general education requirements.

    From music theory to technique to conducting and arranging, the music curriculum offers a wide range of courses for the music major or the non-major who wishes to include music as part of his or her college experience. We offer a wide array of performance and participation opportunities, including:

    • symphonic winds
    • jazz esembles
    • recitals

    USA requirements for international students

    Each university in the Unites States of America sets its own admission standards so there isn't the same criteria for all the students and the university can decide which applicants meet those standards. The fee for each application is between $35 to $100.

Moreover, for a graduate or postgraduate program it's necessary to verify the admission requirements. Some programs require that you send your application directly to their department. 

    Admissions decisions are based on students's academic record and different test scores, such as TOEFL, the SAT or ACT (for undergraduate programs) and GRE or GMAT (for graduate programs). Admission decision is based on your academic results and motivation.

    Academic Requirements

    To apply, your high school transcript should include the following:

    • Four (4) years of English;
    • Four (4) years of math including one year each of elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, and geometry;
    • Three (3) years of science with one year each of biological and physical science;
    • Three (3) years of social studies, including United States history;*
    • Two (2) years of a single second language.*

    *Applicants missing this requirement will not be denied admission if they are otherwise admissible.
