Interior Design transforms ideas into experiences. It explores the spaces in which we shop, drink, eat, sleep and work, asking you to question the functional and aesthetic potential of our interior environments. This is a creative, explorative and engaging course, which asks you to push the boundaries of current design thinking to create new experiences and relationships between people, places and spaces.
The course will help prepare you for the challenging and rewarding profession of interior design or interior architecture with a range of projects set by some of the countries leading interior and architectural practices. You'll learn to bring together the creative and contextual potential of an interior space alongside the technical demands of construction detailing and specification.
You will be encouraged to develop an individual, enquiring and innovative approach to design, supported by a high quality teaching and learning environment with established industry connections. We strongly recommend you take the option of a placement year and also offer you the opportunity to go on an international study trip in Years 1 and 2.
Our graduates have won numerous design accolades with the most recent awards including the New Designers IHG Award 2012 & 2013 and the New Designers ID/Panaz Award 2013, D&AD Yellow Pencil 2012, D&AD Best in Year 2012 & 2013 and Interior Educators award for best modelled project 2013. Universities in the United Kingdom use a centralized system of undergraduate application: University and College Admissions Service (UCAS). It is used by both domestic and international students. Students have to register on the UCAS website before applying to the university. They will find all the necessary information about the application process on this website. Some graduate courses also require registration on this website, but in most cases students have to apply directly to the university. Some universities also accept undergraduate application through Common App (the information about it could be found on universities' websites).
Both undergraduate and graduate students may receive three types of responses from the university. The first one, “unconditional offer” means that you already reached all requirements and may be admitted to the university. The second one, “conditional offer” makes your admission possible if you fulfill some criteria – for example, have good grades on final exams. The third one, “unsuccessful application” means that you, unfortunately, could not be admitted to the university of you choice.
All universities require personal statement, which should include the reasons to study in the UK and the information about personal and professional goals of the student and a transcript, which includes grades received in high school or in the previous university.

The University of Huddersfield has an extensive scholarship programme in place to help well-qualified international students pursue their studies with us. Scholarships normally apply to each year of study. All ‘self-funded’ students who are paying their own tuition fees and meet our minimum entry requirements are automatically considered for a recurring annual scholarship of £2,000. There is no separate application process for this and we’ll let you know if you have been awarded a scholarship when we issue your offer letter.
Scholarships are also available for international students who meet certain eligibility requirements.
