    UK requirements for international applications

    Universities in the United Kingdom use a centralized system of undergraduate application: University and College Admissions Service (UCAS). It is used by both domestic and international students. Students have to register on the UCAS website before applying to the university. They will find all the necessary information about the application process on this website. Some graduate courses also require registration on this website, but in most cases students have to apply directly to the university. Some universities also accept undergraduate application through Common App (the information about it could be found on universities' websites).

    Both undergraduate and graduate students may receive three types of responses from the university. The first one, “unconditional offer” means that you already reached all requirements and may be admitted to the university. The second one, “conditional offer” makes your admission possible if you fulfill some criteria – for example, have good grades on final exams. The third one, “unsuccessful application” means that you, unfortunately, could not be admitted to the university of you choice.

    All universities require personal statement, which should include the reasons to study in the UK and the information about personal and professional goals of the student and a transcript, which includes grades received in high school or in the previous university.

    Requirements

    Entry to the Kingston DBA is normally conditional on possession of all of the following:

    * a masters-level degree, either an MBA or a specialist MA or MSc in a business related area (eg Marketing MA);
    * evidence of substantial senior management or professional work experience, including within the academic profession, at a significant level or responsibility; and
    * one academic and one professional reference, both of which must be received before the selection procedure can take place.

    In exceptional cases, if you do not meet all of the above selection criteria you may still be considered provided you can demonstrate outstanding qualities in terms of:

    * your managerial or professional experience;
    * the intellectual capacity to deal with the demands of the programme; and
    * the personal benefits that you could gain from your participation in, and contribution to, the programme.

    Suitable candidates are invited to attend an interview at which you will make a presentation. This should:

    * map out the way that the DBA relates to and will help your professional development; and
    * demonstrate knowledge and appreciation of current thinking in one or more areas of management.

    Holders of non-UK degrees will be subject to the University's normal entry procedures for equivalence of qualifications.

    If you are in any doubt as to your candidacy, you are welcome to contact the doctoral programmes co-ordinator for an informal discussion.

    International students
    All non-UK applicants must meet our English language requirements. For this course it is Academic IELTS of 7.0 overall with special conditions in all elements. Please make sure you read our full guidance about English language requirements, which includes details of other qualifications we'll consider.

    Applicants who do not meet the English language requirements may be eligible to join our pre-sessional English language course.

    Applicants from one of the recognised Majority English Speaking Countries (MESCs) do not need to meet these requirements.

    IELTS band: 7

    IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.

    The IELTS test is most widely accepted by universities and is also accepted for Tier 4 visas to the UK- learn more.
